Ordered some Golden Open Acrylics today-- As much as I love my watercolors, I would love to master a medium that provides more contrast and vivid colors with my pieces. It's odd because when I talk to other artists, they couldn't imagine using watercolors due to the difficulty to control it for pushing them around the surface. I think the problem is that I spent so many years preserving whites of the paper (I rarely use the color white in my pieces) it's hard to get my head around doing things in a reverse order (darks to lights) of acrylics. I like being able to see my pencil marks when painting with watercolors. It's going to be super hard use an opaque medium and not see where my lines are. Artists do it, but it's hard to get my head around it. ? Debating if I want to attempt to do my next painting 100% with Golden acrylics. ? #wistfulworld

Take a photo of the penciled rendition so you can refer back to it when you lose track of where the lines should be...at least until your mind is used to keeping track.

With your talents why not branch out. I never wanted to do watercolor. I did oils and acrylics. Once I tried watercolor, I was hooked. Doesn't hurt to increase your knowledge. Good luck

Judy? Awe thanks!! I guess I am always too nervous about ruining a piece this size... I really should play with it in a smaller scale. Of course, If i use 100% acrylics, I could just paint directly on my art boards rather than bothering with watercolor paper... (Which I mounting it to the art pane... View More
